Occupational Therapy
Our Occupational Therapists work with children and young adults who have a physical, sensory, or cognitive difficulty caused by developmental delay, injury or illness.
Our goal is to assist them in improving their quality of life by using a combination of therapy, assisted technology’s, aids and home modifications to help them participate in their daily activities.
Occupational Therapy can assist with:
- Fine motor skills – such as writing, doing up buttons, using cutlery, tying shoelaces.
- Gross motor skills – such as catching or kicking a ball, running, jumping, riding a bike.
- Self-care skills – such as getting dressed, washing, eating, using the toilet independently.
- Organisational skills – such as getting ready for school, tidying up, playing a game.
- Sensory integration - understanding how to manage different sights/sounds/textures/tastes
- Emotional regulation – such as managing big feelings like frustration and anger.
- Social skills - making friends, sharing and taking turns, feeling included.
- Prescribing and using adaptive equipment - bath chairs, car seats, hoists, wheelchairs
