ABOUT US

Smart Moves Healthcare is a progressive and dedicated mobile allied health provider for NDIS participants, Home Care and Aged Care clients across South Australia.  As a family-owned business owned and operated by medical and allied health clinicians, our team members are highly valued and well supported, to ensure the best outcomes for our clientele.

Offering a range of services including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, therapy assistance and speech pathology, our priority is to provide timely access to support, assessments, and treatment for individuals, avoiding excessive waitlists and additional stress and overwhelm.

Working in collaboration with participants, their families, support coordinators and relevant allied health clinicians, our team is passionate about understanding the needs of each participant and providing appropriate therapies to achieve their relevant goals whether it be maximising independence, quality of life, reaching their potential or living their best lives.

Our team of highly trained therapists come to you in home, avoiding the burden of travel and or juggling other children or family members, also providing an environment that is familiar and functional.

Mr Matthew Rossi – Director

After finishing his Degree in Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia in 2011, Matt started working a mix of clinic and aged care work for a large private practice in Adelaide. He was quickly promoted to manage the aged care sector of the business, coordinating and managing up to 15 clinicians at any time. Matt is also heavily involved in professional development, including delivery of manual handling, seating, ergonomics, pressure care and COVID 19 safety.

Matt has an extensive knowledge base and enjoys delivering services to a wide range of participants, particularly individuals suffering neurological conditions, stroke, traumatic brain injury and musculoskeletal injuries. Matt will be spending a high proportion of his time training the new generation of health professionals within the business, to ensure delivery of a high quality service.

Dr Luke Wheeler – Director

Luke began his professional career as an Exercise Physiologist, after completing his Bachelor of Applied Science in Human Movement at the University of South Australia. He then went on to complete his Masters of Physiotherapy at the same institution in 2009. Luke gained a wide variety of experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, rehabilitation and aged care. With a desire for further education, he attended the University of Western Australia and completed their graduate entry Medical program in 2015, achieving honors.

Since this time, he has become an adjunct lecturer at the University of Notre Dame for his work in pain medicine and is the lead author of a number of medical journal articles. He is now frequently requested to peer-review journal articles across a number of medical journals. Clinically, he has gained extensive experience in general medicine, anaesthetics and pain medicine. Whilst not consulting participants in a clinical capacity, Luke will be providing medical education and professional development for our clinicians.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapists are health professionals that work along side participants to improve their participation in the activites of everyday life. These include activites such as cooking, dressing, washing, showering, toileting, accessing the community and safety.

Occupational therapists will also help to improve your living accommodation to maximise your ability to increase your independence at home.

Exercise Physiology

Exercise physiologists are health professionals involved in the identification of a broad range of health issues. They are then able to prescribe exercise-based interventions to promote physical activity, weight management, cardiac and respiratory health and advise on lifestyle modifications. After prescribing an exercise plan, the exercise physiologist will then work through this plan with you and ensure that it is being done correctly, minimising the risk of injury and maximising the benefits.

Dietitian

Dietitians are health professionals that promote health and prevention of illness by optimising nutrition and ensuring participants dietary intake meets the individuals requirements. Whether this is increased intake to gain weight and muscle strength or portion control and food behaviours to lose weight, dietitians play a vital role in optimising the health of all participants.

Therapy Assistants

Therapy assistants are individuals who work alongside the health care professional, to deliver the services and plans initiated. They will work alongside you to complete your exercise and fitness goals and give you motivation to achieve these goals.

At Smart Moves, our therapy assistants are highly skilled and completing their university training in their chosen health professional specialty. Therefore, you will be receiving a highquality services at a reduced rate, making your plan allocation go further!
